HOUSTON, Texas — Infrastruct Security, Inc. (www.infrastructsecurity.com) announces that members of their staff have recently been certified to perform vulnerability assessments of chemical facilities. The 2007 Homeland Security Appropriations bill mandates these assessments at high-risk chemical facilities and the consequences of facilities not complying with risk-based and performance-based vulnerability assessments are stiff, including civil and criminal penalties and the possible suspension of operations.

“The certifications are necessary and timely, especially considering the passage of the Chemical Security Provisions within the 2007 Homeland Security Appropriations bill, which calls for the DHS to require the owners and operators of chemical facilities to perform vulnerability assessments and to establish site security plans,” said Andrew Wray, VP of Business Development at Infrastruct Security, Inc.

More Information on the Appropriations bill can be found at:

Through their certification in Vulnerability Assessment: Strategy, Design and Mitigation (VASDM) the Infrastruct Security Inc. team can facilitate, instruct and conduct vulnerability assessments for: evaluating assets, evaluating threats, assessing current security procedures, reducing organizational liability, identifying physical security system vulnerabilities, developing mitigation strategies to reduce vulnerabilities and use of the Vulnerability Assessment Tool for conducting vulnerability assessments.

Infrastruct Security personnel were certified by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), a Texas A&M University System Member in VASDM. The certification examination included a review delivery of the technical aspects of threat-based vulnerability assessments.
