WHEATON, Ill. — The residential and commercial storage and organization industry has a new advocate. The Association of Closet and Storage Professionals is the new voice of this booming segment of the cabinet trades. Supported nationally, the ACSP is dedicated to creating industry standards, certification, and building consumer awareness of the professional standards of the field.

First seeking members in the Spring of 2006, the group has already registered almost 200 companies looking to solidify what has traditionally been a segmented industry. Previously, there has been no relationship between franchises, independent manufacturers and distributors as the companies endeavored to find their niche in the marketplace.

Now, these established firms are pooling their knowledge and resources to obtain a stronger foothold in the consumer’s mind and drive the trade to a standard of excellence, insuring the consumer a satisfactory experience when using a member company.

The goal is to elevate the industry to a professional standard similar to that of the NKBA. Processes for establishing the certification designation are under scrutiny already. An educational program has been produced for the March 2007 Closet Expo sponsored by Vance Publishing.

The Expo takes place March 21-23rd in Schaumburg, Illinois. The ACSP will be present to process new memberships at this event.
