Grant Joint Union High School District Enhances Campus Security with BroadWare Media Management System

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — BroadWare Technologies, Inc., the leader in distributed video management, has been selected to implement a sophisticated video surveillance system at Grant Joint Union High School District in Sacramento, CA. Based on the industry-leading BroadWare Media Management System, the new video surveillance system will enable school security personnel to simultaneously monitor the campus and parking lots in all 13 high school and junior high campuses, as well as their other facilities, allowing them to be alerted in real-time of security or safety threats.

“With concerns of student safety and the financial impact of property destruction, school administrators are looking for a solution to quickly identify potential problems,” said Bill Stuntz, CEO of BroadWare Technologies. “We are pleased that Grant has selected BroadWare’s solution to leverage their IT infrastructure and extend their vigilance over threats to safety and property damage in the geographically dispersed school district.”

BroadWareThe BroadWare Media Management System was deployed in one of the high schools as a pilot program, and will now be expanded to all campuses in the school district to include 700+ cameras. The BroadWare Media Management System allows school officials to view live video from cameras at different campuses simultaneously with high quality images. If a critical event occurs on campus, authorized school administrators and school police can all access live video remotely. Recorded video can be used in conjunction with an alarm system to prevent vandalism, theft, and arson. Images recorded during an alarm event can also be sent via email to specified users.

“BroadWare’s open platform allows the video surveillance system to be a complementary component in our overall IT infrastructure. We now have a powerful and scalable video solution which works effectively in our networked IT environment,” said Joni Jones, Senior Network Engineer at Grant Union. “We evaluated over eight video management solutions and determined that BroadWare best meets or exceeds our selection criteria,” added Rich Timm, Technical Account Executive at EYEP Solutions, the system integrator for the Grant project.

The BroadWare Media Management System (BMMS) is an enterprise solution using non-proprietary hardware that enables organizations to quickly configure and effectively manage complex video applications throughout the enterprise. BMMS provides an end-to-end browser-based solution for collecting, recording, routing, and managing live and archived surveillance video while optimizing use of bandwidth.
