DCH Auto Group Chairman Receives ‘Entrepreneur Of The Year’ Award
SOUTH AMBOY, N.J. — Shau-wai Lam, Chairman of the DCH Auto Group, recently received a statewide Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007 Award for Retail/Distribution Services at a gala event at the Marriott Glenpointe in Teaneck. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards program celebrates its 21st anniversary this year and continues to honor entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
“Ernst & Young is honored to recognize extraordinary business leaders such as Shau-wai Lam and the DCH Auto Group,” said Keith Brownlie, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year program director for New Jersey.
Mr. Lam accepted the award and immediately gave credit to the entire DCH team and to his very supportive bride of 39 years, Marie. He expressed that he is receiving the award in their honor. Mr. Lam is eligible for an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007 national award, scheduled to be presented in Palm Springs, California on November 17, 2007.
After earning his MBA from New York University, Mr. Lam joined DCH in 1967. When the company began its venture into automobile retailing ten years later, Mr. Lam was responsible for the start-up of two DCH dealerships in Southern California, both of which, under his supervision, became the top national ranking dealerships of their respective franchises. In 1988, Mr. Lam was appointed president of DCH, guiding the company’s expansion to become one of the largest dealer groups in the country, with more than 30 dealerships in California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Current 2007 year sales are expected to exceed $2 billion.
The DCH Auto Group has a strong heritage and believes that the best way to do business is behaving with honesty, integrity and with the highest ethical standards.
