LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Finding a date in Las Vegas just got easier thanks to a new dating service, Las Vegas Speed Date. Las Vegas singles have notoriously experienced dating difficulties. In part, this is due to the large transient population. Very few people seem to actually come from Las Vegas. And, according to Sperling’s Best Places web site, since 2000, the population of Clark County has grown by over 15 percent. With an estimated single population of almost 250,000 and a percentage higher than the national average (43.94 percent compared to 41.11 percent), one might think that finding a date in Las Vegas would be easy. But, as Bob Litt, founder and CEO of Las Vegas Speed Date recognizes, “Let’s face it, even though you live in Las Vegas you may not want to date someone you meet at a casino or local bar.”

So, in a town devoted to catering to visitors, how are local singles supposed to meet? Well, Las Vegas Speed Date hopes to solve the problem and to make dating easier and more fun.

Las Vegas Speed Date is dedicated to bringing singles together in a no-pressure, non-threatening, party-like atmosphere.

The concept of a Speed Date party is not new, but Las Vegas Speed Date takes it to the next level. Parties are geared to specific age ranges and some events highlight special interest groups such as single parents, pet lovers, or specific ethnic backgrounds. Parties are hosted by at least two staff members, and usually offer complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Las Vegas Speed Date is primarily designed for mature, professional singles. To become a member you must be 25 or older. And, each party has a suggested age range.

Members of Las Vegas Speed Date are encouraged to come to events with friends.

“It’s a party, so have a good time,” Viki, one of the Las Vegas Speed Date Ambassadors, says. “You will still meet 15 new people and be able to share a fun experience with people you already know.”

So, how does a Speed Date party work? An equal number of men and women, within the same age range, meet at a local restaurant. Pre-registration is required. The events run about two hours. The first 30 minutes is a combination mixer and registration period where Speed Date party goers receive a Speed Date Packet; this includes a name tag and a Speed Date Sheet.

Everyone gets to meet 15 people for five minutes at a time. Within those five minutes, people get to know a little about each other. At the end of their “date,” they fill in their Speed Date Sheets indicating if they would like to meet again. If both members answer positively, Las Vegas Speed Date sends each person an e-mail with the other person’s contact information.

“Dating is hard work,” Litt explains. “But, finding someone to date is even more challenging.”

Litt hopes that his new service will make it easier for singles to meet and have fun.

While there are lots of ways to approach dating — blind dates, bar hopping, and Internet services – many of these are risky and often expensive. Dating is all about the chemistry between two people which is the philosophy behind Las Vegas Speed Date.

The first Speed Date party of the fall season takes place on Wednesday, September 3rd at Half Shell Seafood & Gaming. They have two restaurants in Henderson and the Speed Date party will be held at the 10430 S. Eastern Avenue location. Las Vegas Speed Date expects the party to sell out quickly.

The cost to attend a Las Vegas Speed Date party is $35 for women and $45 for men. Imagine going out 15 different nights to meet with 15 different people. The cost would be significantly higher.

“In addition,” Litt says, “when it comes to dating, nothing beats a face-to-face.”
