COSTA MESA, Calif. — Renaissance Surgical Arts at Newport Harbor announced today it is entering its final phase of construction and near completion. The center will be a Medicare and Joint Commission accredited Ambulatory Surgical Facility and is expected to open in Spring 2009. The professionally managed, but majority physician-owned facility will represent a new standard of care. Providing the most advanced infection control systems and surgical equipment, Renaissance at Newport Harbor marries cutting edge technology with industry leading aesthetics and efficiencies to positively influence patient outcomes.

“Renaissance at Newport Harbor will fill a niche that has been left open for too long,” said Gary Reiter, M.D., a longtime Newport Beach ophthalmologist. “The patient will be pampered in ways that even Newport Beach patients have not experienced before. It will provide surgeons an environment utilizing best-of-class technology and efficiencies. But perhaps best of all, it will provide an unparalleled level of infection control that will set the standard for the medical community.”

Located within the Pacific Medical Plaza building at 1640 Newport Blvd. near the intersection of Newport Blvd. and Seventeenth Street, Renaissance at Newport Harbor is a 20,000-plus square foot outpatient facility. As anchor tenant of the property, the center encompasses the entire first floor.

Eight Operating Rooms are designed to revolve around the needs of Physician Investors. Each O.R. features hand-picked technology chosen by the Surgeon Members to deliver the highest standard of clinical efficiencies in an aesthetic that demonstrates their commitment to patient care. All specialties are represented, with particular attention paid to the increased demands of gynecology and women’s health, oncology, interventional radiology, neurosurgery and minimally invasive spine.

“The emergence of Renaissance at Newport Harbor opens a new chapter in healthcare in Orange County where surgeons are the designers and overseers of their facility and delivery of patient care, instead of employees of a corporation,” said Bruce Wallace, CEO of Congero Development and manager of the center. “This surgical facility will be second-to-none and provide an unmatched patient experience.”

One of the critical pathways to the center’s mission statement of excellence in healthcare is infection control. Architectural partner and ACHA-certified healthcare architect Anthony C. Pings placed infection control as one of the paramount factors driving the planning and technical design of Renaissance at Newport Harbor.

“We have translated the aggregate knowledge of our clinical staff from design to implementation and monitoring,” explains Wallace. “With the expertise of Anthony Pings, we have found ways to incorporate the technology of infection control in a space that supports the mental and physical well being of our patients and physicians.”

Congero Development has brought together a team of national industry leaders to collaborate on this project.

“This center has been an ambitious project and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” said Steve Green, President of Easton Electric. “As medical specialists in our industry, we can see the attention to detail and forethought in every element of Renaissance.”
