SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Appointments announced Oct. 23, by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger include: Alexander Calero, 33, of San Diego, has been appointed to the Dental Hygiene Committee of California. He has served as a member of the Board of Psychology since 2007 and as enforcement division staff counsel at the Department of Corporations since 2005. Previously, Calero was a law clerk for the Law Office of Danny Brace in 2005 and the California State Attorney General’s Office in 2004. Prior to that, he served as a legislative aide for Assemblymember Bill Leonard’s Office from 2000 to 2001. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Calero is registered decline-to-state.

Rita Chen Fujisawa, 45, of Davis, has been appointed to the Dental Hygiene Committee of California. Since 2008, she has served as associate executive director of marketing and membership for the California Optometric Association, where she previously held the positions of director of marketing and membership from 2002 to 2008 and senior marketing and membership manager from 2000 to 2002. Chen Fujisawa worked for On Lok Senior Health Services as marketing project manager from 1996 to 1999, business development specialist from 1996 to 1998, communications associate and acting development officer from 1992 to 1996 and administrative assistant 1989 to 1992. George Davis, 52, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the State Bar of California Board of Governors, where he has served since 2007. Since 2001, he has owned and served as principal of the Davis Broadband Group, a media and entertainment consultancy focused on international business development and technical operations. Between 2004 and 2006, Davis served Technicolor Network Services as senior vice president of North and South America as well as the Asia-Pacific Rim. He worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment as vice president of international channels for Sony Pictures Television International from 1999 to 2001 and corporate vice president for Worldwide Satellite Operations from 1996 to 1999. Davis was vice president and general manager of Western Region Operations and Engineering for IDB Communications from 1987 to 1996. Miriam J. DeLaRoi, 36, of Menifee, has been appointed to the Dental Hygiene Committee of California. She has owned Access Hygiene since 2007 and has been a dental hygiene contractor for the OMO Group since 2006. Previously, DeLaRoi worked as a dental hygienist at the dental offices of Dennis Hunt in 2006. She was a dental hygienist at Pacific Dental Services from 2004 to 2006 and Rancho Dentaland the Dental Offices of Rick Lindleyin 2004. Cathy DiFrancesco, 52, of Vacaville, has been appointed tothe Dental Hygiene Committee of California. Since 2008, DiFrancesco has served as a dental hygienist for Paul E. Johnson, D.D.S. Previously, she was a registered dental hygienist at the dental offices of Antonio Zarate from 2007 to 2008 and the dental offices of James W. Childress, D.D.S from 2006 to 2008. Jeannine English, 54, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the State Bar of California Board of Governors. She previously served on the Board of Governors as an appointee of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez from 2006 to 2007. English has served the AARP as president since 2007 and as a member of the AARP National Policy Council since 2006. She was a founding partner of Lehman, English, Kelly and O’Keefe from 2002 to 2005 and a legislative advocate for Robinson and Associates from 1999 to 2002. English served the Little Hoover Commission as executive director from 1989 to 1999 and deputy director from 1985 to 1989. Prior to that, she was the assistant executive director for the Department of Transportation from 1979 to 1985 and financial auditor for the Department of Finance from 1976 to 1978 and for the Department of Health Services from 1978 to 1979. Karin Fish, 50, of Lincoln, has been appointed chief of operations for the Office of Tourism for the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency (BTH). Michelle Hurlbutt, 52, of Upland, has been appointed to the Dental Hygiene Committee of California. She has served as an assistant professor at Loma Linda University, School of Dentistry since 1999.
