SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement thanking Senator Dave Cogdill (R-Modesto) for his service in the California state legislature after the Senator announced he will not seek re-election in 2010: “Senator Dave Codgill is an extraordinary public servant to the people in his district and to all Californians across the state. Throughout his tenure in the state legislature, Dave has been a champion for making our communities safer, protecting small businesses and advocating on behalf of California’s veterans. Most notably, Dave has fought tirelessly for the last three years to reform the state’s water infrastructure and he played a key role in the recent passage of the historic water reform legislation to ensure that we have a safe, clean and reliable water source for generations to come.

“Dave has been a true partner over the years and has shown great leadership at times when California needed it most. He consistently puts the needs of Californians ahead of his own interests or political endeavors and it has been a privilege and honor to work together to address the challenges facing our state. Dave will be concluding his time as a legislator on an extremely high note and all Californians owe him a debt of gratitude for his service and dedication to making California a better place.”
