SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Baxter Design Group (BDG) is celebrating 25 years as the premier San Antonio based interior design firm serving private and commercial clients throughout the Southwest and New York City area. BDG growth and vision has been guided by founder and president, Debbie Baxter, who believes that interior spaces should be comfortable and timeless. The soundness of this vision is evidenced by BDG’s impressive body of portfolio quality work, which continues to be appreciated and enjoyed by many clients today.

CEO Debbie BaxterThe design industry is noted for its many creative personalities who push the design envelope. However, it is a unique combination of creativity and business skill that has enabled Baxter Design Group to continually grow despite economic downturns and ever evolving design trends. “It is rare to see an entrepreneur who is able to build a growing, successful firm in a complex industry. It is even rarer when that industry — and that individual — operate in an artistic field. That Debbie Baxter has managed to create one of the nation’s premier interior design firms is a testament to both her artistic vision and her considerable business acumen,” stated David Shepherd, president of DPI, author of Your Business or Your Life and lecturer at the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas.

Over the course of its illustrious history, BDG has perfected a disciplined, collaborative approach to design projects. As such, BDG has partnered with many leading architects, noted landscape architects, developers and artisans. “When I launched the business in 1985, we were in the midst of a crushing recession, much as we are today,” notes Debbie Baxter, president and CEO of Baxter Design Group. “I’m proud to have weathered the many economic storms and to have grown the business as we have. My hope is that I have built a firm that will live beyond me and provide a model for other design firms to follow.”

Debbie Baxter settled in San Antonio after spending time in Miami, Florida and after living abroad in cities as diverse as Caracas, Venezuela and Madrid, Spain. During her time abroad, Debbie developed a sharpened design perspective shaped by her global lifestyle. After she settled in San Antonio with her husband and two young children, Debbie began her business as a solo interior designer. Today, the company has grown into an all-women firm of more than 20 exceptional professionals, including licensed designers, interior stylists, business support staff, and a team dedicated to BDG’s proprietary global resource marketplace and procurement systems. In addition to the many referrals and repeat clients, the company has won recognition from customers and influencers in the design industry.
