SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after signing SB 408 by Senator Alex Padilla (D-Pacoima), which prohibits violent felons from possessing body armor such as bullet proof vests:

“Public safety is absolutely my number one priority, which is why I signed SB 408 today. Violent felons wearing body armor pose a dangerous threat to our communities and especially to our men and women in law enforcement. I’m proud to sign this legislation and to continue working with the legislature to protect Californians.”
