energy management programsTIPP CITY, Ohio /eNewsChannels/ — The Tipp City Exempted Village School district wanted to reduce its energy expenses and engaged Greg Smith, President of Energy Optimizers, USA to do just that. According to a report released this week, the public/private partnership has provided the district with $11,483.53 in energy savings during the first 5 months of this year on electric and gas utilization. The report also calculated the energy efficiency changes which reduced the school district’s carbon footprint by 145,016 lbs. the equivalent of taking nineteen cars off the road and also saved 248,225,035 BTU’s of energy, equivalent to the annual demand of twelve (2 story, 3 bedroom) homes.

“It’s nice to see how small changes to our facilities Operations and Maintenance plan can positively and significantly impact our Districts’ financials,” states John Kronour, Tipp City School District superintendent. In 2009, the school district implemented a series of energy management programs that led to the energy savings.

The savings expectations for the school district should continue to grow according to Smith. “Energy Optimizers, USA has worked with the district’s ‘Green Team’ and facilities staff to provide a comprehensive Energy Management Plan. We estimate that their savings will grow to $28,500 by the end of the year as we continue to identify and establish efficiency changes,” states Smith.
