addiction treatmentTROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec /eNewsChannels/ — Narconon Trois-Rivieres is launching a drinking and driving campaign starting this January and takes a look at how Canadian officials deal with DWI (Driving while impaired) and DUI (Driving under the influence) to deter drunk driving. These bring two somewhat different charges in the United States, but both are serious infractions in Canada. Unlike the U.S., Canada takes these charges very seriously. Anyone coming from the U.S. into Canada who has been charged with either DUI or DWI may be denied entrance. “Canadian border patrol does have access to American records, including DWI and DUI, so lying just won’t help,” reports JF Dubreuil of Narconon Trois-Rivieres.

The blood alcohol concentration (or BAC) is .08 in Canada. Anyone refusing to take a breathalyzer test will be charged the same as if they were guilty of DUI or DWI. Both DWI and DUI are considered to be the same as Canadian Criminal Code offence of impaired driving. First offence carries a $1000 fine and prohibition from driving for one year. Neither Canadian laws nor Canadian citizens take kindly to any type of impaired driving. Americans crossing over into Canada may not have had a DUI or a DWI in the past ten years.

Canadian laws concerning any type of impaired driving are much more serious than those in the United States. Anyone who has been convicted of impaired driving has to apply to gain entrance into Canada. Application cannot be made until 5-10 years after the sentence has been completed. Rehab centers, such as Narconon Trois-Rivieres provides alcohol rehab which starts the journey back to safe driving. Alcohol rehab is part of most sentences incurred by Canada and the United States. Narconon Trois-Rivieres has a very effective alcohol rehab program.

Impaired driving is a big issue globally. A Narconon rehabilitation center is able to help stop impaired driving by providing excellent alcohol rehab. Those who begin driving while impaired seldom stop until they receive help. Only when these individuals receive counseling to stop their alcohol addictions do they realize the danger they have put themselves, and the public in.

Even one person losing their life due to alcohol impairment is too many. No one is safe as long as people continue to drive while intoxicated or under the influence. This is why Canada takes the offence so seriously. Having either a DUI or a DWI will affect the ability to cross over into Canada for a very long time in the future. Narconon Trois-Rivieres can provide the rehabilitation program necessary to stop driving while impaired.
