LOS ANGELES, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa today issued the following statement on the retirement of LAUSD Superintendent Ramon Cortines: “On behalf of the people of Los Angeles, I want to thank Ray Cortines for his dedicated service to the youth of our City and wish him the best in his retirement. For over 50 years, he has been a steady hand in the field of education, with unparalleled knowledge and understanding not just of LAUSD, but of how to build successful schools with great teachers, where students are engaged and challenged.
