presidential candidatesWINTERSET, Iowa /eNewsChannels/ — The Pumpkin Ranch owners, Dave and Jennifer Handsaker and a crew of creative, dedicated hands have accomplished what most political pundits and media have been trying for years – a path through the intricate minds of our presidential candidates. Think of it. How would you like to take a stroll through the mind of Mitt Romney or President Barack Obama? Imagine the things you would discover.

Since 2010, The Pumpkin Ranch has been celebrating autumn on their family farm by inviting the public to join in the festivities. Each year they’ve tried to top themselves with a corn maze that will astound and stupefy even the best navigators in central Iowa. This year’s maze is a 9.3-acre, 5-mile path honoring the pending Presidential election. Kids and adults alike will find themselves winding through paths creating the likenesses of President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney.

Throughout the maze, checkpoints – in a CSI-style investigation – will let participants know where they are as well as provide special promotions and giveaways for the navigators to redeem.

Dave Handsaker spoke of the development of Iowa’s Mega Corn Maze for 2012. “The idea of tilling out the candidates’ likenesses for the maze was Jennifer’s idea. So, for over six hours last month, we saw Obama’s and Romney’s faces slowly taking shape in our corn field. Considering all of the media coverage the candidates get, we’re really excited to see how people take it this year. Imagine waking up to that looking at you every morning!”

Along with Iowa’s Mega Corn Maze, The Pumpkin Ranch also provides activities parents and children can take part in. From a zip line and tire tower to jump houses and hay rides, families can come out and make an entire day of it. And let’s not forget the fare for fall season lovers like pumpkins, gourds and squash.
