energy savings opportunitiesTIPP CITY, Ohio /eNewsChannels/ — Dr. Michael Sander, Superintendent at Clinton-Massie Local School District, announced that the District will be implementing an energy conservation project to reduce energy usage and save taxpayer dollars. Energy Optimizers, USA has been working with the District to develop complete turn-key energy conservation solutions. To implement these projects without asking for any taxpayer money, the school district is utilizing funding mechanisms through the Ohio School Facilities Commission’s House Bill 264 program.

Energy Savings for Clinton-Massie Local School District:

Energy Optimizers, USA has designed the Clinton-Massie Local School District project to include significant energy conservation projects producing a net cash flow of $98,213 a year! The project, with an 8.1 year payback, will reduce the annual CO2 emissions by 666,285 pounds. The annual environmental impact is the equivalent of removing over 129 cars from the roads, saving 19 acres of trees, and taking 27 houses off the grid.

The $796,564 project consists of lighting retrofits, HVAC controls and programming, real-time energy management, and an energy education program. The boilers will be converted from using fuel oil to the less expensive propane fuel. The project will include installation of Smart Controls on kitchen exhaust hoods and walk-in freezers throughout the District.

Energy Education Program:

Energy Optimizers, USA will work with the District to implement an energy education and training program, tied to the curriculum, for students and staff. Activities will include creating and implementing a district-wide energy conservation handbook incorporating suggested student and staff behaviors and expectations that directly affect energy usage, and having the school district qualify for and become recognized by the Federal Energy Star Energy Efficient Buildings Program.

Greg Smith, President of Energy Optimizers, USA, stated, “We are extremely excited to be working with the Clinton-Massie School District to not only save them a substantial amount of money, but also to save the environment. By providing their students with a unique educational opportunity through the energy education program, we hope that some students may be interested in pursuing the field of energy efficiency and/or the renewable energy field. We will provide a graduating student from the District interested in the energy and/or engineering field with a $1,000 scholarship during the 2012-2013 school year.”
