U.S. Department of StateWASHINGTON, D.C. /eNewsChannels/ — The U.S. Department of State announced today the International Virtual College Fair, the largest online event ever for overseas students interested in attending college in the United States. The November 13 event, sponsored by the Department’s EducationUSA network, will occur during International Education Week.

The Department’s Bureaus of International Information Programs (IIP) and Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) are producing the event to reach international students, who last year contributed $22.7 billion to the U.S. economy.

Nearly 200 higher education institutions from all 50 states will participate in the 24-hour fair, which will feature live video presentations on degree programs, the credentials required to apply to college in the United States, financial aid options available to international students, and student visa application procedures, as well as direct access to participating U.S colleges and universities.

Any international student with access to an Internet connection will be able to participate in the free event.

EducationUSA is a network of hundreds of advising centers supported by ECA in 170 countries, where millions of international students each year find accurate, comprehensive, and current information about how to apply to accredited U.S. colleges and universities.
