eNewsChannels: CFPB Mortgage

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah /eNewsChannels/ — NEWS: Utah-based Mortgage document preparation vendor International Document Services, Inc. (IDS) today announced it has expanded its compliance team with the addition of Paul Morton as compliance officer and assistant in-house counsel.

A licensed attorney in both Utah and Arizona, Morton was hired to assist in the implementation of the new Know Before You Owe disclosures issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) earlier this year. In addition, Morton’s responsibilities will include researching laws and regulations regarding federal and state-specific mortgage disclosures, contracts, idsDoc audits and internal policies and procedures.

“The compliance piece of the doc prep puzzle has become increasingly significant as regulators have turned their attention to mortgage docs and the data contained therein,” said Mark Mackey, executive vice president at IDS. “The addition of Paul Morton to the IDS in-house compliance team strengthens our position as a compliance-centric docs provider and enables us to deliver an even higher level of compliance assurance to our customers.”

Prior to IDS, Morton worked for the Honorable Rodrick Coffey as a judicial intern, as well as the Arizona-based estate planning law firm Morris, Hall & Kinghorn. Morton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Consumer & Community Studies from the University of Utah and earned his Juris Doctorate from Arizona Summit Law School. He graduated in the top third of his class and received the distinguished Cali in Excellence Award in both Trusts & Estates and Lawyer Processing III.
