eNewsChannels: marketing

SEATTLE, Wash. /eNewsChannels/ — NEWS: Seattle’s Eco Roof Service expanded its business by 60 percent in just a few months through new marketing channels like social media and door-to-door. Social media marketing had increased its name recognition and attracted new customers, announced Aaron Zarling of the Seattle roofing company.

In late 2014, the King County based roofing company was doing well but wanted to expand its business, and a friend at Saturn Barter recommended that the owner get in touch with David White, the CEO of FansTactic, a local social media marketing strategy firm. Together, they worked out a digital marketing plan, which promoted the roofing company’s name change to Eco Roof Service, stressing the company’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices, along with a 30-second ad for YouTube, and Facebook entries, plus SEO.

“SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is important, because that increases the number of potential customers who will find your company’s name on the Internet when they are searching for your product or service,” Zarling said.

An ad on YouTube proved to be a powerful marketing tool for Eco Roof Service, according to Zarling, and business is still growing.

FansTactic’s White noted: “TV advertising has gotten results in the past, but it’s often too expensive for small business owners. An average user watches over 7 hours on YouTube every month, and pricing is much more reasonable than TV. We can often do YouTube advertising for less than 10 percent of the cost of TV advertising.”

Reaching Potential Customers:

Like many small business owners, Zarling wanted to reach the maximum number of potential customers with his message. He had limited time to spend navigating the social media world, and was surprised at how easy it was to hire a marketing firm to carry out an effective social media campaign for his business. “Even non-Internet-savvy business owners can learn how to get their message out, if they have professional help,” Zarling commented.

The first step was to highlight Eco Roof Service’s mission: to provide excellent service and workmanship, plus the most advanced and environmentally friendly products available.

“When we install a new roof,” Zarling said, “all the used shingles are recycled into highway asphalt. As for new materials, people are amazed at the variety of colors and styles available, as well as the fact that these modern shingles can last 40 years.” This is an excellent fit for the greater King County area, where residents place importance on going green.

Another piece of the Eco Roof Service success story is the role of Saturn Barter, a unique local company that matches up local merchants who “buy” and “sell” their services and products to others in the barter exchange, with barter credits instead of cash.

“I’ve been amazed at how marketing agencies have helped increase the volume of business for many of our Saturn Barter members,” Josh Serrick commented, “and this is true for a variety of businesses.”
