California Gov. BrownSACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Today, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Amanda Wallace, 41, of Oakland, has been appointed assistant director for workforce innovation at the California Workforce Investment Board. Wallace has been a consultant at Amy Wallace Consulting since 2012. She was deputy director of workforce development at the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development from 2006 to 2012 and project manager at the National Economic Development and Law Center from 2000 to 2006.

Wallace earned a Master of Arts degree in urban and regional planning from the University of California, Irvine. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $103,608. Wallace is a Democrat.

Reggie Fair, 55, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy secretary of legislation at the California State and Consumer Services Agency. Fair has served in multiple positions at the Office of Senator Curren D. Price since 2008, including deputy chief of staff and legislative director. He was chief executive officer and president at R. Fair and Associates from 1999 to 2008 and consultant for the Yes on Proposition 223 campaign in 1998. Fair served as managing partner at Dymally Earnest and Fair Inc. from 1992 to 1999, consultant for the No on Proposition 174 campaign in 1993 and campaign manager for Teresa Hughes for State Senate in 1992. He was principal consultant for the California State Assembly Education Committee from 1987 to 1992. Fair was an advance coordinator for Tom Bradley for Governor in 1985, management analyst at the City of Los Angeles Department of Aging from 1984 to 1987 and Southern California coordinator for the John Glenn Presidential Committee from 1983 to 1984. Fair earned a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $126,708. Fair is a Democrat.

James N. Goldstene, 50, of Gold River, has been appointed undersecretary at the California State and Consumer Services Agency. Goldstene has been executive officer at the California Air Resources Board since 2007, where he was vehicle program specialist and senior advisor at the Office of Climate Change from 2006 to 2007. Goldstene was deputy chief at the California Bureau of Automotive Repair from 2003 to 2006 and bureau chief at the California Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology from 2000 to 2003. Goldstene served as interim registrar at the California Contractors State License Board in 2000, director of policy research at the California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission from 1999 to 2000 and part-time faculty in the government department at California State University, Sacramento from 1996 to 2007. He was program manager at the California Pollution Control Financing Authority from 1992 to 1999, senior policy advisor at the Office of Lieutenant Governor Leo McCarthy from 1991 to 1992 and legislative assistant to State Assemblymember Lloyd Connelly from 1989 to 1991. Goldstene earned a Master of Arts degree in government from California State University, Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $145,500. Goldstene is a Democrat

Michael Langston, 51, of Huntington Beach, has been appointed to the State 9-1-1 Advisory Board. Langston has served as police chief at the Signal Hill Police Department since 2011. He was a captain at the Turlock Police Department from 2007 to 2011 and lieutenant at the San Fernando Police Department from 1988 to 2007. Langston has been a member of the California Police Chiefs Association since 2001, where he serves on the finance committee and represents the association on the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training Public Safety Dispatchers Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and Fight Crime: Invest in Kids organization. Langston is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of La Verne. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Langston is a Republican.

James Mele, 51, of Sonora, has been appointed to the State 9-1-1 Advisory Board. Mele has been Sheriff of Tuolumne County since 2006. He has served in various positions at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office since 1988, including narcotics commander, sergeant, detective, narcotics investigator, patrol deputy and jail deputy. He is a member of the California State Sheriffs’ Association, the Sonora Regional Medical Center Civic Advisory Board and the Tuolumne County Suicide Prevention Task Force. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Mele is a Republican.
