SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — New products from Museum of Robots introduced at the International Home + Housewares Show 2009 have been selected as “Cool Products for the Home” by BusinessWeek. Recognized as among the most innovative product introductions are the Recycled PET Felt Collection and Flying Saucer Bowl Set.

Says Museum of Robots co-founder Vicki Kung, “Our focus is on creating functional products that have a sense of humor, experiment with interesting materials and design motifs, and are well-made. Products that keep people and households organized become part of a person’s toolkit – we create those types of ‘tools.’ Our products are designed to support multiple uses, extending their utility as people move from home to office to play.”

The Recycled PET Felt Collection products are made of polyester felt made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles. The felt fabric is made in the USA by a manufacturer of industrial fabrics, and Museum of Robots has translated it into consumer products. It is estimated that each pound of fabric is the equivalent of 10 plastic bottles that would otherwise go to landfill. Products are manufactured at a certified woman-owned apparel factory in the Los Angeles area.

Felt products range from market totes, to wine bags, to notebook covers and portfolios, all in support of keeping life sustainably organized. Notebook covers include a notepad made in USA of recycled paper by Blind Industries & Services of Maryland, which trains and employs the blind and visually impaired.

Also new is the Flying Saucer Base Collection. The large stainless steel base holds a two-piece, multi-functional wooden bowl set, used covered or with the top resting on its antennae as a second bowl; the small stainless steel base holds the laboratory glass Scientific Vase.

Other new products include the Leather Command Center Organization Group, featuring a leather notebook cover, covered box, and tray set, all embossed with the signature Museum of Robots motif.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Museum of Robots (MuseumofRobots.com) in Second Life will announce the winners of its first annual “Build-a-Robot” Competition at an event on July 19, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. PDT. A Linden dollars prize will be awarded to 10 winners and all entrants receive a merchandise prize. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and by popular choice. Entry Classes include Standalone display, Wearable, and Homage to Classic Robots.

The three top-judged entries in each category will win an award, and a People’s Choice prize will be given. Winners in the Homage category receive the Fred Barton Award, named after the famous robot builder who is a recent Saturn Award recipient.

The competition’s goal is to explore what a robot is, how it can be expressed within the parameters of Second Life, and to encourage creativity and originality. With almost 50 entries received, creativity is indeed on display.

Says Museum of Robots co-founder Vicki Kung (Bibi Bayliss in Second Life), “The quality and variety of the work done by competition entrants is extraordinary. Each entry explores and interprets the theme ‘robot’ in a different way, and the range of creative vision, the skills in building and a sense of fun and humor is evident in each one. We are delighted and proud to be able to showcase the remarkable talents of these designers.”

Competition entries are currently on display at Museum of Robots and will remain on exhibit through August. The Museum is located at (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Kubrick/98/161/26).

WASHINGTON, D.C. — International Shoe Manufacturing Corporation (OTC: ISHO / ISHO.pk) announced today that they have completed the acquisition of GeckoSystems, Inc. GeckoSystems, based in Conyers (Atlanta), Georgia, is now entering its ninth year of business. GeckoSystems is a dynamic leader in the Robotic Industry revolutionizing the development and usage of mobile robot solutions for safety, security and service(TM).

GeckoSystems’ mobile service robots are capable of automatically self-navigating the home, office, or business. They can patrol or carry out other designated errand running tasks without human assistance or intervention. To accomplish these benefits, GeckoSystems has developed a suite of proprietary, fundamental technologies called “basebot” technologies. These scientifically developed, tested and proven hardware and software technologies enable the practical, cost effective manufacture, sale and usage of mobile service robots in a variety of environments. Utilizing these basebot technologies, the robots respond intelligently, without human intervention, to dynamic environments and accomplish useful tasks such as automated patrolling, remote care giving and/or remote monitoring for use by consumers and civilian or military organizations.

“The economic and societal impact of these technologies will change our lives for the good. We are very excited about acquiring GeckoSystems, Inc. and being involved in helping to create a better twenty-first century tomorrow. In addition, we believe their unique robotic technology will significantly add value and increase the profits for our shareholders,” stated Martin Spencer, Chairman/CEO of International Shoe Manufacturing Corporation.

“The acquisition by International Shoe Manufacturing Corporation will enable GeckoSystems to effectively communicate the facts to the mainstream public. GeckoSystems has a plethora of breakthrough technology announcements to unveil. It will enable us to distribute our suite of robotic technologies to a much broader market which is conservatively estimated to be in the billions of dollars. In conclusion, this acquisition increases the potential and rewards to investors of both companies,” stated George MacLeod, Sr. Vice President of Business Development for GeckoSystems, Inc.
