SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments: First, Alice Y. Hom, 45, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the California Council for the Humanities. Hom is the director of the Queer Justice Fund at Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, where she was philanthropic advocacy manager from 2007 to 2010.
She was founding director of the Intercultural Community Center at Occidental College from 2001 to 2006 and served in various positions with the J. Paul Getty Research Institute for the History of Art and the Humanities from 1992 to 1999, including project management consultant, research assistant and program assistant. From 1994 to 1996, she was program coordinator for the Asian American Student Union at Scripps College. Hom earned a doctorate degree in history from Claremont Graduate University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hom is a Democrat.
Brenda Wright, 70, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Council for the Humanities. Wright has held multiple positions with Wells Fargo since 1985, including senior vice president and regional manager of community relations, senior vice president of premier banking and vice president district manager. She is a founding member and former president of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and advisory board member of the Museum of the African Diaspora. Wright is also a member of the Women’s Foundation of California. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Wright is a Democrat.
Stacy Lewis Daher, 39, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Educational Facilities Authority. Daher is the associate vice president of the Office of Finance and Treasury at the University of San Francisco, where she has worked in multiple positions since 2002, including assistant treasurer, senior financial analyst and adjunct professor of accountancy in the School of Management. She was a senior associate of audit and business advisory services at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1998 to 2001. Daher earned a Master of Accounting degree from Saint Louis University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Daher is a Democrat.
Donn Harris, 57, San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Subject Matter Project Advisory Board for Arts. Harris has been executive and artistic director at the Oakland School for the Arts since 2007. He was principal at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts and the Academy of Arts and Sciences from 2001 to 2008. Harris worked at Raoul Wallenberg High School as principal from 2000 to 2001 and assistant principal from 1997 to 2000 and worked at the Galileo Academy of Science and Technology as assistant principal from 1996 to 1997 and dean of student affairs from 1993 to 1996. Natalie Sidarous, 33, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Subject Matter Project Advisory Board for Mathematics. Sidarous has been legislative coordinator at the State Controller’s Office since 2011. She was a policy analyst and a grants program administrator for the Improving Teacher Quality State Grants Program at the California Postsecondary Education Commission from 2006 to 2011. Sidarous served as director of education at Sylvan Learning Center from 2004 to 2005 and was a private tutor of mathematics and physics from 2002 to 2004. She was a research assistant in the Magnetism and Superconductivity Research Group at the University of Texas at Austin Physics Department from 1999 to 2001. Patricia Suppe, 57, of Corona, has been appointed to the California Subject Matter Project Advisory Board for Physical Education and Health. Suppe has been a physical educator with the Alvord Unified School District since 1987. She is a member of the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Suppe earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in theater and dance from California State University, Fullerton. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Suppe is a Democrat.
Donald Miles, 63, of Pasadena, has been appointed to the State Bar Court of California, where he has served since 2007. Miles was an attorney and partner at Ropers Majeski Kohn and Bentley PC from 2004 to 2007 and was an attorney and director at Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk and Rabkin PC from 1987 to 2004. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $163,274.
