SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Judy Johnson to a judgeship in the Contra Costa County Superior Court.
Johnson, 63, of Rodeo, served as the executive director of the State Bar of California from 2000 to 2011 and previously served as chief trial counsel from 1994 to 2000. Johnson was an assistant district attorney in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office from 1977 to 1994 and an adjunct professor at New College of California School of Law from 1979 to 1984.
She served as a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Alameda County from 1976 to 1977. Johnson earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Harlan G. Grossman. Johnson is a Democrat.
The compensation for this position is $178,789.
