COLUMN: Every conversation these days leads to discussions of economic chaos. There are a lot of a big sighs and a sense of doom and futility in voices around my space. But I am not here to discuss these kinds of things with you today. I am not here to carry on the political or media rhetoric. I am not here to contribute to the self fulfilling prophesies that has gripped and arrested the world of business today. Once I wrote, “Be careful what you believe, because you get it!” I find that even more relevant as I hear the concern in the people around me.
“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow; it only saps today of its strength.” –A.J. Cronin.
I saw these business events unfold and was acutely aware of it one day a couple of years ago. My husband and I had brunch out and paused to look at a two-inch red headline on our local newspaper, “Real Estate in Toilet!” I told my husband then that the media was going to exacerbate a simple cyclical economic peak and valley, which unfortunately has played out. The more attention given to these events, the more psychological effects play out in our community. People become afraid to spend, take action or even live their lives. They become afraid to dream and see things differently. So I want to ask you to suspend judgment for a time.
Today I want to offer hope and empower you to believe in yourself, believe in your country, believe in each other, and when you set your intention to believe, think big with a lot of passion. I ask you to think differently for a while and see the possible.
Setting an intention is somewhat like meditating on, or sending a prayerful message out into the Universe. This enables us to meet the day in positive energy, with an outlook that sets our attitude toward bringing us good things. Intentions works best when the quality of the message is strong and clear. I’ll use something everyone can relate to such as, “I now look for the perfect house for me that will fill all of my needs.” The second thing to do is nothing, but hold the passion of your desire. We wait and allow our vision to enfold, and be mindful of our passion for the house and the stream of whatever will be to evolve. The right connections, financing and people come and you just know it intuitively that the time is right. Then and only then is it good to take appropriate action.
Very different intentions are put in place when 3 days after an intention is set, we start invoking the Universe with negative messages.
What usually happens when we say things like, “Why don’t I have my house yet? I don’t know why I can’t have a baby, car, trip, house, etc., other people have these things. Why can’t I have X, I deserve it.” Or worse, don’t let this (disaster) happen, or that (problem) happen. These kinds of messages keep us stuck in a perpetual cycle of negativity. When we focus on what we don’t want to happen we create a self-fulfilling prophesy. This is part of what is going on all over the country. What started out as a simple peak and valley became a media sensation, a real estate, business and banking fiasco that has been exacerbated by our own thinking.
Quantum physics say we literally create our reality through our thoughts. Our thought processes generally consists of ramblings of feelings, sights and sounds, and nothing has reality until we process it through our minds. We organize it into structured thinking and co-create a vision of what we want to see in our lives. When the quality of our thought turns negative, then what we get back is also negative and jumbled. Like wiring that gets crossed, the connection just doesn’t happen. Actually, it does happen, just not as we intended.
So how do we create the kind of outlook or send the kind of intention that give us what we really want? This is more about seeing right than thinking right. When we ask for things to not happen, we get confused. The Universe and your mind cannot distinguish between what you want and what you don’t want. We send the Universe, your higher power, your higher consciousness, however you wish to frame this as well as other people, a mixed message. So keep things clear and straightforward.
The steps to get what you want are easy enough: focus on what you want to see happen. Then let go of the intention. See it floating away into space like a feather in the breeze.
This intention can be nonspecific, general, or specific.
* (Non specific) My life is richly rewarding and all of my needs are filled easily and effortlessly.
* (Specific) My dream trip to ________comes to me now.
* (General) I now unfold to the wonderful person that I am and everyone loves me.
* I see my new __________ car sitting in my driveway and I will drive it with joy.
* My house is filled with my children, my laughter, and my love.
* I have the perfect job waiting for me and is see it clearly.
* My body is healthy and I feel great!
What do you want to see happen in your life? See it, imagine it, feel it, be it. When you think intentional statements of the possible, a clear message is sent to the Universe for what you want, and if you see it, and believe it possible, the possible happens. The same goes for the country that we all love and for the world with whom we are all connected. One cannot succeed without the other. We are one world, existing together. We must send a clear message of empowerment to those who labor for us, to work out our economic issues with speed and deliberation for the good of all.
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a NEW model that makes the existing model obsolete.” –Buckminster Fuller.
