Brown today announced the following appointments and re-appointments: First, Ruth Thompson, 68, of Carmel Valley, has been reappointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board, where she has served since 2012. Thompson has been a lecturer at the California State University, Monterey Bay School of Business since 2010.
She was executive director at the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce from 2009 to 2010, a self-employed consultant from 2003 to 2009, senior director of marketing at American University Radio, WAMU-FM from 2002 to 2003 and consultant at Ruth Thompson Associates Inc. from 1989 to 2001. She is a member of the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Access Monterey Peninsula Board of Directors. Thompson earned a Master of Science degree in public relations from the Boston University School of Communication. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Thompson is a Democrat.
Robert Borck, 42, of Eureka, has been reappointed to the 9th District Agricultural Association, Redwood Acres Fair Board, where he has served since 2008. Borck has been owner of Eclipse Enterprise since 2010. He was a field representative at the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council from 2000 to 2010 and a carpenter at Sequoia Construction from 1993 to 2000. Borck is a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 751, Humboldt Fisherman’s Marketing Association and the Alliance for Sustainable Jobs and the Environment. Jennifer Coile, 58, of Hollister, has been reappointed to the 33rd District Agricultural Association, San Benito County Fair Board, where she has served since 2012. Coile has been a technical assistance provider at Training and Development Associates Inc. since 2011 and a project manager and interim housing coordinator at the City of Marina Economic Development Division since 2006. She was a National Environmental Policy Act specialist at Pinnacles National Monument from 2008 to 2009. Coile was a contract housing planner at the City of Sunnyvale Housing Division from 2003 to 2007 and city manager of the City of San Juan Bautista from 2005 to 2006. She was a transportation planner at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area from 2000 to 2002 and assistant cultural affairs officer at the U.S. Information Agency and U.S. Department of State from 1995 to 2000. Coile was a transportation planner with the City of Burbank Advance Planning Division from 1992 to 1995. She is a member of Pinnacles Partnership, El Teatro Campesino, Hollister Art League and Slow Food San Benito Bounty. Carol Johnson, 70, of Mariposa, has been reappointed to the 35a District Agricultural Association, Mariposa County Fair and Homecoming Board, where she has served since 2012. Johnson was a senior engineer at IBM Corporation from 1962 to 2002. She is a member of the Mariposa County Arts Council Board of Directors, Mariposa County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors and Mother Lode Workforce Investment Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Johnson is a Democrat.
John Stewart, 57, of Mariposa, has been reappointed to the 35a District Agricultural Association, Mariposa County Fair and Homecoming Board, where he has served since 2012. Stewart has held multiple positions with the Mariposa County Unified School District since 1991, including purchasing director, warehouse worker and custodian. He was manager at Pioneer Market from 1987 to 1991 and bindery department director at Carpenter Printing from 1986 to 1987. Stewart held multiple positions at 49er Market from 1981 to 1986, including manager and assistant manager. He is a member of the California School Employees Association Board of Directors and Mariposa County Economic Development Corporation.
