SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. on Friday announced the following appointments. First, Todd Bland, 49, of Elk Grove, has been appointed deputy director of the Welfare to Work Division at the Department of Social Services. Bland has worked at the Legislative Analyst’s Office since 1995, serving most recently as deputy legislative analyst in the health and human services section. He was a project manager at Economic and Planning Systems from 1990 to 1995 and a performance auditor at the Office of the Auditor General from 1989 to 1990. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $138,300. Bland is registered decline-to-state.
Charlton “Chuck” Bonham, 43, of Albany, has been appointed to the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission. Bonham is currently the director at the Department of Fish and Game. Bonham worked at Trout Unlimited from 2000 to 2011, serving in multiple positions including California director and senior attorney. He was an instructor and trip leader for the Nantahala Outdoor Center from 1994 to 1997 and was a small business development agent for the United States Peace Corp in Senegal, West Africa from 1991 to 1993. Anita Gore, 53, of Dixon, has been appointed deputy director of the Office of Public Affairs at the Department of Public Health. Gore has been deputy director of external affairs at the California State Board of Equalization since 2004. She was public affairs director at the California Department of Conservation in 2004, assistant director of communications at the California Department of Finance from 2002 to 2003, and assistant secretary of external affairs at the California Health and Human Services Agency from 1994 to 2002. Brian Johnson, 56, of Pasadena, has been appointed deputy director for enforcement at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control.
