SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine(SM) – Sacramento (SIRM-Sacramento) has announced that Dr. Robert Greene will join as full-time medical director, operating out of the Sacramento headquarters as well as the Pleasanton and newly-established Redding satellite offices.
Dr. Greene, widely known for his expertise in hormone-brain research, now brings his unique perspective to the field of hormone balance and infertility. He is a sought-after speaker and media resource and also serves as an assistant clinical professor affiliated with the University of California-Davis College of Medicine. Following on the success of his first two books, Perfect Balance and Perfect Hormone Balance For Pregnancy, he is completing the work on two more to be released within the next 12 months, including Perfect Hormone Balance For Fertility (release date April 2008).
“We are extremely excited to welcome Dr. Greene to our staff,” said Dr. Geoffrey Sher, co-founder and Executive Medical Director of the Sher Institutes for Reproductive Medicine. “His expertise in hormonal issues and his genuine passion for what he does will be an invaluable benefit to his patients and to our organization.”
In addition to his ongoing focus on a complete range of hormonal issues, Dr. Greene will treat the full spectrum of male and female infertility issues, and continue to develop all aspects of SIRM’s leading-edge In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) program – including those related to SIRM’s groundbreaking research into embryo selection methods and egg freezing.
“I’m thrilled to be leading these outstanding centers, and I’m confident that we can deliver unprecedented success for all couples seeking individualized fertility therapy,” said Dr. Greene. “Dr. Sher’s development of techniques determining embryo competency may change the face of IVF by offering higher success rates with lower incidences of birth defects and multiple births. Also, his recent research in the area of egg freezing should allow us to assist women seeking to preserve their fertility pending cancer treatment or simply to extend their reproductive years.”
To better serve the patient community and to make Dr. Greene’s expertise widely accessible, the Sher Institutes have added a new section to their website discussion boards that is dedicated to hormonal issues. Dr. Greene will monitor the hormone discussion boards and answer questions posted by visitors to the site.
Dr. Greene has been a featured guest on NBC’s Dateline and ABC News, as well as in numerous magazines including Self, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Fit Pregnancy, Shape, and Oprah and Friends with Dr. Mehmet Oz. He is the founder and director of the Center for Reproductive Health and Hormone Balance in Redding, a specialty clinic for women, men and couples. This practice will continue at SIRM Sacramento and its satellite locations.
