KALAMAZOO, Mich. — AZO Technologies, Inc., today announced the release of VisiWave(TM) Site Survey 1.6 (www.visiwave.com), the latest version of its very successful wireless site survey product. With this release, GPS is now supported as a new method for keeping track of the surveyor’s location while conducting a site survey. Using a Global Positioning System (GPS) device, the surveyor can track his or her movements while outdoors to automatically create maps of the area’s 802.11a/b/g wireless coverage.

Combining GPS support with the already powerful wireless reporting features of VisiWave allows network managers to visualize wireless campuses, city-wide hotspots, and other outdoor wireless networks just as easily as the indoor facilities tracked by earlier versions of VisiWave.

VisiWave(TM) Site SurveyGPS is now just one of four flexible methods that can be used to keep track of a surveyor’s location during a Wi-Fi site survey using VisiWave. Other methods include: adding individual data points by clicking on a floor plan image, adding segments of data points by walking along straight lines, and adding data points along any arbitrary path using a navigation unit unique to VisiWave that automatically tracks movements inside and outside buildings.

Existing customers clearly appreciate VisiWave’s ease-of-use and always growing set of features. “We have used the AirMagnet(TM), Ekahau(TM), and VisiWave products. I prefer the VisiWave tool as it is the easiest to use and is constantly being enhanced,” commented Tim Lawson, Vice President of Sales with Red One Network Solutions, about VisiWave’s latest release.

VisiWave performs effective site surveys by quickly and automatically mapping out radio characteristics in the survey area. This map allows anyone to fully visualize all aspects of an 802.11 wireless network. Several product offerings exist to meet the needs of almost all organizations no matter how big or small. There is a low-cost release that can be afforded by independent contractors, small businesses, and even hobbyists. Also available is a version suitable for professional network consultants and companies with medium to large wireless networks.
