WASHINGTON, D.C. /eNewsChannels/ — Ambassador Luis CdeBaca will deliver remarks on “The Role of the United States in Combating Human Trafficking” at the Center for American Progress on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Following his remarks, Ambassador CdeBaca will participate in a panel discussion with key partners from Humanity United, the International Justice Mission, the Solidarity Center, and Enough.
This speech is one of several to be delivered by Ambassador CdeBaca leading up to the 10th annual Trafficking in Persons Report, which will be released by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in June.
Ambassador CdeBaca was appointed by President Obama to direct the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the Department of State, where he serves as a Senior Advisor to Secretary Clinton and leads the United States’ global fight against contemporary forms of slavery. The Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (G/TIP) develops and implements the State Department’s policy for the protection of trafficking victims, prosecution of traffickers, and prevention of trafficking.
