LOS CABOS, Mexico — One of the world’s finest Five Diamond resorts is putting an exclamation point on Valentine’s Day by showcasing the ultimate gift on this day for lovers: a rare, heart-shaped, 10.05-carat yellow diamond worth $1.5 million. It will be on display for guests to view, or, better yet, for one guest to buy to make an unsurpassed statement of undying love. Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, the internationally heralded Five Diamond resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, has teamed up with Q Diamonds International Boutique to display the unique stone over the Valentine’s Day week.

“Love is made up of many special moments over days, months and years,” said Las Ventanas’ Managing Director Andres Araya. “But sometimes you can create one moment that is never forgotten…that changes a heart forever. Buying the Q Diamond for your lover could be that one moment.”

Las VentanasWhen Albert Gad, owner of Q Diamonds, bought the diamond in the rough from De Beers, he was faced with the question of how to cut it. It was a very rare stone, and he wanted to cut it into a shape that would make it particularly special. Normally, yellow diamonds are cut in radiant shape, which often shows the most color. But the color of the stone was so intense and unique, Mr. Gad decided to take a risk and make it heart shaped. The challenge was successful and the result amazing.

The vivid yellow diamond has VS2 clarity and a GIA certificate. World-famous jewelry designer Christopher Design created a one-of-a-kind setting that complements the uniqueness of the stone: a ring of platinum and 22 karat yellow gold with 4.15 carats of yellow and white diamonds.

Las Ventanas, the only Five Diamond property in Los Cabos, has been among the world’s most acclaimed resorts since it opened in 1997. It brought the highest international standards of luxury and service to Los Cabos and played a lead role in elevating it to Mexico’s most upscale destination. Las Ventanas has been heralded in particular as one of the world’s most romantic resorts, and even boasts a “Department of Romance” dedicated to making guests’ romantic dreams come true.

The resort features: 71 exceptionally spacious suites with exquisite furnishings, unique appointments hand-crafted by Mexican artisans, individual telescopes for stargazing, and magnificent panoramic views; a holistic spa heralded for its signature treatments derived from the biological bounty of the Baja desert and extensive menu of therapies from around the world; signature Baja-Mediterranean cuisine; and a Tequila & Ceviche Bar.
