SAN DIEGO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after Kyocera Solar, Inc. announced plans to begin manufacturing solar modules in San Diego:

“Today’s announcement is further proof that California’s nation-leading green policies play a vital role in our state’s economic success. Even in this recession, green jobs in California have grown, and Kyocera’s decision to locate solar manufacturing operations in San Diego will create even more jobs at a time when they are needed most. This is exactly why we must continue to work to make the state a better partner to the economy and implement my California Jobs Initiative to encourage additional investment in California.”

San Diego will be the first U.S. site to begin solar modules manufacturing and is the fifth site worldwide chosen by Kyocera. The manufacturing is expected to commence in the first half of 2010.
