SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of V. Raymond Swope to a judgeship in the San Mateo County Superior Court. Swope, 57, of Menlo Park, has served as deputy county counsel for the San Mateo Office of County Counsel since 1998. Prior to that, he was an attorney for the Law Offices of Charlotte M. Venner from 1997 to 1998, an associate at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn and Bentley from 1990 to 1994 and then partner from 1995 to 1997.

Swope was an associate for Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman and Dicker from 1989 to 1990. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Drake University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Drake University. Swope fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Carl W. Holm. Swope is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $178,789.
