Mario SestitoKIRKLAND, Wash. /eNewsChannels/ — On September 21, HR.com will host a webcast (online seminar) in conjunction with LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP) to help companies help their employees plan for long term care following health reform. “Millions of Americans will soon be automatically opted in to the new public option for long term care, unless they pro-actively opt out,” says Mario Sestito, an industry expert who will lead the webcast. “Employees will look to their employers for guidance, but few human resource or benefits managers currently know what to say.” The webcast aims to fix that. Sestito is Director of Business Development for LTCFP, one of America’s largest and fastest-growing agencies focusing exclusively on long term care insurance.

Titled Long Term Care and the CLASS Act, the webcast will cover the new public option for long term care, contrasting it to the many private options available through long term care insurance. The CLASS (Community Living Assistance Services and Supports) Act is the part of health reform that addresses long term care for working people; not yet available, it is currently being readied for implementation by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“In essence, it’s just another insurance policy — which happens to be underwritten by the Government,” says Sestito. “Employees will pay for it out of their earnings, so they will need to know how it compares to all the other insurance policies out there. They will expect their management to advise them.”

The webcast is designed for human resource managers and benefits specialists, but corporate executives and business owners may also participate. Attendees will learn about long term care risks and the various steps that can be taken to minimize those risks, including many types of private long term care insurance as well as the new public option. After the session, attendees will have a better understanding of how to educate their people on the risks, and help them make the right choice for their situation.
