“Instead of dealing with people attempting to dance for five hours straight, now I’m working with ad agency executives, copywriters, and people who use words like ‘demographics,’ ‘psychographics,’ and ‘Unique Selling Proposition,'” G says.

But wait — Scott G has been in the ad business since graduating from college, so is he really a musician embedded in the ad world, or is he an ad man who snuck into the recording industry?

“Okay, it’s both,” G says with a grin.

Either way, he’s proud to be working with ad agencies and marketers of every size to create songs, sonics, music tracks and radio spots.

His company, G-Man Marketing, and its subsidiary, G-Man Music, works with ad agencies, production companies, corporate and retail clients, game developers, and producers of film and TV soundtracks.

As an ad man, Scott G has created marketing for an impressive list of clients, everyone from Albertson’s to Zenith. He frequently serves as both voiceover artist and music composer on radio and television commercials.

As a recording artist, The G-Man is signed to Delvian Records, with all five of his albums available on Real Rhapsody and Apple iTunes.

“I like being in both marketing and music,” G says. “In each case, we’re trying to touch people emotionally. Although,” he adds, “you can get more sensual on an album track than in a commercial for PayLess Shoes.”

Scott often tells people “you’ve heard my music whether you know it or not” because it is utilized in many different commercial formats.

Another crossover between ad man Scott G and recording artist The G-Man is on a recent commercial for the American Cancer Society which featured music from the opening track of his most recent album, MOTION POTION.

As if combining marketing and music wasn’t enough, Scott also writes the “Communication Nation” column for the Advertising Industry Newswire.
