When Lauren Woodard, LCSW, owner, Bloom Consulting and Counseling in Asheville, N.C., placed second in the psychologist/counselor, health and wellness category in the Mountain Xpress Best of WNC 2016 reader poll, she was simultaneously thrilled and stunned. It’s a feat she never thought possible, but one she accomplished anyway.
“I started the business on a part-time basis in August of 2015, but just opened my doors, full-time, to the general public this past March. I had absolutely no expectation of even placing in the category,” Woodard says. “I’m honored and humbled.”
The Best of WNC poll asks readers to vote for their favorite business in a variety of categories. Woodard adds that what surprised her most was the fact that people had to write her name in – it was not a multiple choice kind of poll where you could simply check a box.
“That’s what really threw me for a loop,” she says. “Enough people knew me and my business and actually took the time to write me in.”
Woodard is excited about what the future has to bring and looks forward to serving the community just like they have done for her.
