ATLANTA, Ga. — Georgia Secretary of State Karen C. Handel, the state’s first Republican to hold the office, will speak at the Tuesday, June 24, regular monthly meeting of the Georgia Association of Business Brokers, Inc. (GABB), a statewide group with almost 200 members. As Secretary of State, Handel oversees elections, corporations, securities, and professional licensing boards. This important constitutional office is responsible for ensuring Georgia’s new voter photo identification law is properly enforced. The Secretary of State’s Office also controls the state archives and the Capitol museum.
Said GABB President James Welch, “We are extremely fortunate to have Secretary of State Karen Handel speak to the membership of the GABB during this busy election season.” Welch commented that he admired “the straight-forward, hard-working attitude” Secretary Handel brings to state government following a successful career as an executive at several Fortune 500 companies.
Secretary Handel also has served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue, Chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, and as a Deputy Chief of Staff for the Bush-Quayle White House.
Welch continued, “Presidential elections mobilize average citizens to exercise their Constitutional rights not only in voting for the nation’s highest elected office but also in determining the course of local government in ways that affect every business person every day.” He added, “No matter which candidate or party someone supports, the message this year is clear: America needs to do more to help entrepreneurs and small-business people who are willing to work hard to earn their own piece of the American dream.”
The Georgia Association of Business Brokers, GABB, is a not-for-profit, statewide membership organization committed to establishing and maintaining an environment and support structure for success and professionalism in the business brokerage industry. GABB actively encourages each member to achieve his or her highest potential by promoting education, integrity, community responsibility, leadership, professionalism, and productivity.
