BOMBAY, India — Purplenova (www.purplenova.com) has announced the release of Purplenova 3.0 – The Easy Web Server, which allows users to web-host any content directly from an Internet-connected PC. By making content web-accessible directly from where it resides, Purplenova 3.0 provides an alternative to hosting with Hosting Services, ISPs or Blog sites.

Among the new features in Purplenova 3.0 now available as Beta, is the ability to interface with traditional Web Servers such as IIS and Apache. Users can install web-sites even on computers that are behind Firewalls, Routers or Network Address Translation Devices, and make them web-accessible through Purplenova. Another new feature of Purplenova 3.0 is the ability to support third-party applications. Users can write their own desktop applications compliant with Purplenova API, and remotely execute them via Purplenova.

Purplenova value-proposition is security, ease-of-use and freedom of limitless hosting directly from any PC. Content-owners are firewalled behind Purplenova’s Master Proxy, and therefore protected from malicious attacks.

Purplenova Purplenova was first launched in late 2006 as software for self-publishing directly from desktops. While early usage by the community was mainly restricted to sharing photos, media files and documents, the latest version of Purplenova attempts to address the general home-hosting and small business markets, by supporting web-sites and active pages written in HTML, ASP, PERL, PHP, etc that work together with traditional Server software.

Dr. Anand Soman, the CEO of Purplenova says the self-hosting approaches in use today are insecure, cumbersome and require a level of technical expertise beyond most lay-users. With the explosion of ‘user-generated’ content, there is a need for a simple, secure self-hosting solution, which is exactly what Purplenova provides.

The company has also begun licensing its technology for integration into third-party offerings such as Internet Communities, Application Vendors, Publishing Solutions, etc. Purplenova recently acquired two large partners, and Q1 2007 was a break-even Quarter for the company.
