Hollywood Media DistrictHOLLYWOOD, Calif. /eNewsChannels/ — The Julia Dean Photo Workshops (www.juliadean.com), the West Coast’s largest non-degree based school of photography, will mark the opening of its new headquarters in the heart of Hollywood’s Media District on March 26, 2011.

Led by photographer, educator and founder Julia Dean, the school’s 5,000 sq. ft. space, located at 755 Seward St, features lecture rooms, gallery/event space, digital and traditional darkrooms, and a 2,000 sq. ft. studio. The move from previous JDPW quarters in Venice comes as the school, founded in 1999, dramatically expands its primary functions.

“This is a very exciting time for all of us at JDPW,” said Julia Dean. “Adding to our array of wonderful workshops taught by great photographers, we now have even more to offer. Our expanded space allows us to offer studio rental, as well as traditional and digital darkrooms. We are happy to embrace the digital age, while maintaining traditional photographic education as well.”

Two exhibitions on display for the school’s opening include the works of participants from instructor Aline Smithson’s “The Next Step II” class and Christopher Capozziello, winner of the 2010 Berenice Abbott Prize, an annual competition organized by JDPW, in honor of the pioneering photographer and mentor of Julia Dean.

Attending the opening will be prominent photographers, along with notable sponsors and partners including A&I Photographic and Digital Services, Canon U.S.A., and Universal Art Gallery. Baret Lepejian and Vic Lepejian, owners of A&I and A&I Books, which are allied with JDPW, will also be in attendance.

An hourly raffle drawing will be offered with the Grand Prize of one JDPW Special Guest Workshop. In addition, attendees choosing to enroll in a JDPW workshop at the event will be eligible to receive 10 percent off the tuition price of most classes offered through June, 2011.
