WASHINGTON, D.C. /eNewsChannels/ — Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William R. Brownfield will deliver remarks at a ceremony honoring federal, state and local criminal justice partners at the Department of State on Monday, May 13.
At this Partner Appreciation Ceremony, hosted by the Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Assistant Secretary Brownfield will recognize the expertise provided by federal, state and local criminal justice partners to advance civilian security around the world. The Department will present the first Secretary of State Award for Excellence in Overseas Criminal Justice Assistance to the New York Police Department (NYPD) in recognition of NYPD’s training assistance in Haiti.
INL also will present awards to the Atlanta Police Department, Chicago Police Department, New Mexico Corrections Department, Colorado Department of Corrections, the Delaware Attorney General’s Office, the Department of Justice’s International Criminal Investigative Training and Assistance Program (ICITAP) and the Law Library of Congress for their contributions to building the capacities of foreign criminal justice personnel.
The ceremony will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the George C. Marshall Center, Department of State Headquarters, 2201 C St NW, Washington, DC 20520. The event will be open to the press.
