PUEBLO, Colo. — On September 6, 2008, The Thunderwolves of Colorado State University – Pueblo will be doing something they haven’t done in 24 years – cheer on their football team. And, to mark the event, the Thunderwolves will be doing so in their newly constructed football stadium. Yes, strike up the band and bring on the cheerleaders, Southern Bleacher is going to deliver on a long-held dream by delivering a state-of-the art football stadium.

Acting as both the general contractor and design team, Southern Bleacher engineer and salesman Jim McCain will bring back excitement lacking since the football program’s demise in 1984.

The multi-million dollar project was jump-started by Friends of Football, formed in early 2006. Originally was made up of 14 people, Friends of Football’s goal was not only to get the hometown team back in pads, but as alumni, they were alarmed by slowly declining enrollment and knew a successful football program not only could attract a broader scope of students, but also could enrich campus life. As successful businessmen, Friends of Football also realized bringing back football could help the local economy.

The new facility is a hillside construction with seating for both home and visitor. Fashioned like a bowl, the facility will have 3,230 seats on the home side and 3,230 seats on the visitor side with a total seating capacity of 6,460.

Stated Garrett Pettus from Southern Bleacher, “As both the general contractor and designer, the Southern Bleacher team takes special interest in seeing this project to successful completion. Not only do we hope to lay the foundation for a successful Colorado State University – Pueblo program, but deliver on our promise a little early as well by completing the project by April 1, 2008!”
