SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Today, Calif. Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced the following appointments: First, Angel Carrera Jr., 61, of Sacramento, has been appointed business development program manager at the California Department of General Services, where he has served since 2007.
Carrera was program manager of the California Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program Section from 2000 to 2007, contract and procurement services manager at the California State Lottery from 1988 to 2000 and a labor relations analyst at the California Department of Health Care Services from 1981 to 1987. He was a staff services analyst at the California Department of Social Services in 1981 and an employment program representative at the California Employment Development Department from 1978 to 1981. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $99,768. Carrera is registered decline-to-state.
Miriam Barcellona Ingenito, 41, of Elk Grove, has been appointed chief deputy director at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. Ingenito has been deputy secretary for environmental policy and community programs at the California Environmental Protection Agency since 2011. She was deputy director of legislation at the California Department of Finance from 2009 to 2011 and principal consultant for the California State Senate Committee on Appropriations from 2001 to 2009. Ingenito served as assistant to the secretary for policy and program analysis at the California Resources Agency from 1999 to 2001 and was a fiscal and policy analyst at the California Legislative Analyst’s Office from 1997 to 1999. She earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Chicago. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $143,748. Ingenito is a Democrat.
Brenda Manke, 55, of Northridge, has been appointed administrator of the California Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Home of California, West Los Angeles. Manke has been administrator of the Veterans Home of California, Ventura since 2008. She was a nursing home administrator at West Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center from 2006 to 2008 and at the Center at Parkwest from 2002 to 2006. Manke was home administrator at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Eisenberg Village from 2000 to 2002 and administrator of the Valley Palms Care Center from 1985 to 2000. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $125,016. Manke is a Republican.
Taryn Ravazzini, 38, of San Francisco, has been appointed coordinator of the Delta Stewardship Council’s Delta Plan Implementation Committee. Ravazzini has been guest relations coordinator at Opus One Winery since 2012. She was senior wine educator at Domaine Carneros Winery from 2009 to 2012 and a law clerk at the Law and Mediation Offices of McDonald and Mannion in 2007. Ravazzini was a legal writing teaching assistant at the Golden Gate University School of Law in 2006 and an account executive at the Dolphin Group from 2003 to 2005. She held multiple positions at the Association of California Water Agencies from 1999 to 2003, including field representative and federal relations representative and was a staff assistant in the Office of Senator Barbara Boxer from 1998 to 1999. Ravazzini was a judicial administration fellow for the Judicial Council of California from 1997 to 1998 and an assistant to the legislative liaison at the California Postsecondary Education Commission in 1997. She earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Golden Gate University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $95,004. Ravazzini is registered decline-to-state.
Peter Southworth, 48, of Latrobe, has been appointed deputy secretary and general counsel at the California State Transportation Agency. Southworth has been a supervising deputy attorney general in the California Attorney General’s Office, Government Law Section since 2011. He served in multiple positions at the Attorney General’s Office from 1997 to 2011, including deputy attorney general in the Land Law and Government Law Sections. Southworth was an associate attorney at Downey Brand Seymour and Rohwer from 1993 to 1997 and a judicial law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Ronald M. Whyte from 1992 to 1993. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Columbia Law School. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $142,788. Southworth is registered decline-to-state.
