Scientists, Adult Beverages and Educating Kids!?!

(TULLAHOMA, Tenn.) — NEWS: The Hands-On Science Center announces “The Science of Wine, Brew and Spirits” fundraising event November 10, 2018. Merging science education with those fun-to-drink adult beverages not only gets adults involved in the fascinating world of science but helps raise both funds and community awareness for a much-needed educational facility in the small town of Tullahoma.

The Hands-On Science Center just celebrated its 23rd anniversary. The center reaches nearly 30,000 people each year through its “Traveling Wizards” program, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) camps, cybersecurity camps, coding classes, internship programs, home school classes and field trips to the center housing ~100 STEM related exhibits most of which are hands-on activities to spark children’s imagination and eagerness to learn.

This year’s event will feature tastings from local breweries, wineries and distilleries as well as educational exhibits and speakers teaching how it takes a scientist to make these concoctions.

Executive Director, Sean Amidon notes “This is an important day for the center. We depend on this event to help raise funds to support an array of great STEM programs for kids. We want to get a lot of organizations to work together so that we can reach as many kids as possible. Not only can local companies get involved but this year we are offering brewers, vineyards and distilleries across the country the ability to help with STEM education and advertise their wares by including their brochures or other give aways in gift bags for our attendees.”

Companies wishing to have a pamphlet/brochure and/or small imprinted item (i.e. key chain, magnet, corkscrew, etc.) in this year’s gift bags can mail the items and a check for $45 made payable to Hands-On Science Center by November 3rd to 101 Mitchell Blvd., Tullahoma, TN 37388.

The Hands-on Science Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and can provide a tax receipt for your donation. Learn more at: http://www.hosc.org/.
