BOSTON, Mass. — Jacob Hill, a 24-year-old songwriter, musician, and model from Plymouth, Massachusetts, will represent the United States in the second Mister International pageant to be held in Kuching, Malaysia from December 20 to 31. In May 2006, Hill was hand-selected by Critical Beauty, a pageant website and pageant consulting firm based in Boston, via an online casting.

Hill was supposed to compete in the first Mister International pageant in Singapore in October 2006, but four months before the competition, Hill was involved in a terrible car accident that left him with a broken pelvis, elbow, swollen lungs, and a broken back. He was replaced by Boston-based model Chaka Sedgwick. Luckily, Hill had a full recovery and began an intense training for the 2007 competition.

songwriter Jacob Hill Hill attended the University of Arizona and Pima Community College in Tucson. Hill’s career ambition is to be a full-time touring musician. He states, “I enjoy being on the road and experiencing everything this world has to offer me, and if I could do that while spreading the joy of music, I believe there is nothing more in life I could accomplish.” Hill’s debut CD, “Black Coffee Sessions,” was released last August and is getting rave reviews. It is now available in iTunes. Besides music, Hill enjoys reading, golfing, sailing, cycling and traveling.

Rafael Robert Delfin, the director of Critical Beauty, says, “Jake is an excellent Mister USA. He has debonair good looks, he is personable and intelligent, and he loves challenges. I have no doubt that he will make waves in Malaysia.” The winner of the prestigious Mister International title will receive a prize package worth over $70,000 plus an apartment in Singapore for one year. Mister International is the male equivalent of Miss Universe, according to Alan Sim, the president of the Mister Singapore Organization which produces Mister International. The contestants will be judged in three categories during the preliminaries – swimwear, evening wear and interview. The contestants who receive the ten highest scores will automatically advance to the finals. “Jake has over a year to prepare for the competition. He’s on top of his game, and I am confident that he will be one of the favorites for the Mister International title,” remarks Delfin.

For his national costume, Hill will be wearing a Daniel Boone-inspired frontiersman outfit designed by David Michael Voytek of Florida. “The costume reflects what America is all about – a country of adventurous, bold and innovative people. The costume comes with raccoon hat, suede vest with fur trim, hiking boots, and slacks with rectangular patches in earthy colors. It’s a unique costume as it has never been presented before in any international pageant,” says Delfin. After the pageant, the costume will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to Easter Seals, Mister USA’s charitable alliance.

Hill’s sponsors include Rebecca Bousquet Johnson Photography, Vegan Essentials, GQ, H&M, Banners Plus, Cross Pens, Viva Skin Care Center and Critical Beauty which also produces the Mister USA pageant. Applications are now being accepted for the Mister USA 2008 pageant to be held in Boston in August 2008.
