(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — NEWS: The Jump$tart Coalition’s 2019 National Educator Conference – an all-scholarship event for personal finance teachers – is sold out. The conference, set for November 1 – 3, 2019 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC, is underwritten by the Cornell-Douglas Foundation, Experian, and the Wells Fargo Foundation and many other generous sponsors, which enable 350 teachers from across the country to attend the event on a scholarship that covers their hotel stay, meals and full participation in the event.
The Jump$tart National Educator Conference (#JSNEC19) supports the goals of Check Your School, Jump$tart’s public engagement campaign to get more-and more effective-financial education into our nation’s elementary, middle, and high schools. Jump$tart’s Essential Elements of Effective Financial Education, found on CheckYourSchool.org, identify qualified educators as one of the essential elements and the National Educator Conference provides the professional development opportunity that many need. Teacher attendees are eligible to receive a certificate for 15 professional development hours.
The National Educator Conference also addresses the need for a variety of reliable financial education resources-another of the Essential Elements of Effective Financial Education. Conference breakout sessions and the dedicated financial education exhibit hall introduce teachers to curriculum materials and tools to help them bring personal finance to life in their kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms. Most of the session presenters and exhibitors are national Jump$tart Coalition partners.
“The Jump$tart National Educator Conference lets us offer substantive and focused professional development to personal finance teachers and those who incorporate financial content into any subject at any grade level,” said Laura Levine, Jump$tart Coalition President and CEO. “We’re also very proud that the conference demonstrates the best of what we are as a coalition-with supporters, presenters, and exhibitors working together to support financial education. It’s truly a collaborative effort and we are grateful to everyone involved.”
Exhibitor registration will remain open until October 11 or when capacity is reached. Visit the Jump$tart website or contact info@jumpstart.org for more information.
